The Express Entry System

  • You should have sufficient funds to support you to settle in Canada and also take care of any other family member coming with you unless you have a valid job offer
  • You must successfully pass the security background check meaning you have no criminal record
  • You must pass the medical examination check meaning you are in sound health

Still under the Express Entry System, you can still go through the Canadian Experience Class only if you have a Canadian work experience meaning that you must have worked for an employer in Canada for at least one year in the last three years during the application for permanent residence in Canada. It’s either you have worked as a Temporary Foreign worker or as a post graduate student. This experience gives you an opportunity to apply for permanent residence through this program.

The Provincial Nomination Program

This is a provincial immigration program in conjunction with the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. The program is designed to help provinces in Canada hire foreign skilled worker to fill up labour shortages in the province and contribute to the economy of the province. The provinces set out their own requirements and are responsible for nominating candidates depending on how eligible they are and if they meet the requirements the province has set out and the Canadian government will then approve the candidates to be invited to Canada.
